Australian Fashion Legend Pip Edwards’ Rose Bay Home

Pip Edwards is a name synonymous with two things: Australian streetwear, and Bondi. After years working for companies such as Sass & Bide and Ksubi, she made the move on her own to co-found her label P.E Nation, and more recently, she’s even moved from her beloved Bondi!

Pip recently moved to Rose Bay in search of more space close to her son’s school, her parents, and the city. ‘It’s in a quiet cul de sac at the top of a hill with views to Bondi and across to the harbour,’ she says.

The building was only six years old when Pip bought her apartment last year, but already she felt the interiors were dated. ‘There were big ‘80s and ‘90s vibes throughout, with a heavy focus on marble and tiles, especially in the living areas with a super small kitchen’ she recalls, ‘I had to completely renovate before moving in.’

Working with interior stylist Chloe Matters, Pip set out to create a calming space for herself and her son. ‘My design was based on the theme of green that represents harmony, growth, creativity, and abundance, which is what this move and new space represented for me and my son,’ she says. ‘I really wanted the space to flourish and it was all about expansion.’

The renovation involved enlarging the kitchen and laundry, installing new herringbone parquet flooring, painting the internal walls, and replacing all doors and lighting. The kitchen was a key focus, designed by Dylan Farrell Design to double in size, with a new bar seating area. ‘It created an entire other entertaining space. It was quite confronting to ground the entire kitchen in black, but it has been the best feature. It’s a real statement while still being a very functional space.’

Organic shapes and oversized stone pieces feature in the living space, balanced with white walls and plenty of indoor plants. The balcony garden was also completely transformed, to create a lush, jungle vibe. ‘It was a total overhaul!’ Pip says. ‘The outdoor garden has been brought into the home and there is lots of plant life throughout too… It feels like me.’

This is the first home Pip has renovated, something she’s keen to do more of in future. ‘It got me excited about being creative in a new way,’ she says. ‘I feel like this could be my new obsession, like fashion.’ Her home, however, now feels complete — at least for now! ‘I think I’m done for a while…but maybe the bathrooms when I’m up for it!’
