Summer might be over, but that doesn’t mean you need to banish the swimwear to the back of the closet until it comes back around. Aussie swimwear and resort label Jets wants you find sanctuary in far-flung destinations and feel comfortable while dressed down.
That’s the inspiration behind its newest collection, Sanctuary in Style. It was designed in Sydney with ideas of renewal and looking to the future, but also takes plenty of visual cues from the past.
There’s a terracotta print called Desert Palm with dark tropical plants overlaid on cotton, linen, silky viscose and nylon depending on the type of clothing, with classic silhouettes you can wear to the outback or around the city. There’s swimwear (of course), with different one-piece, bikini top and bottom silhouettes, alongside a matching set of wide-leg pants and a short-sleeved button-up, a roomy kaftan and flowy maxi dress.
Also in the collection is Lalita, which features two prints: a detailed, small-scale geometric print in orchid hues and a bolder pattern of overlapping shapes in shades of pink that’s reminiscent of ’60s psychedelia. The former comes in a sarong, three maillots (including a classic V-neckline), two bikini tops and two bottoms for you to mix and match, while the latter is more for lounging, featuring a wide-leg pant, wrap dress and button-up shirt-dress.
It’s not all bold prints, either. There are some classics you’d expect from Jets’ repertoire, like deep plunging necklines, high-waisted bikinis and the versatile black triangle bikini top (swimwear’s answer to the little black dress). And, of course, the label’s signature animal patterns.
