Believe it or not, Easter is this Sunday. And after a couple years of not being able to gather as much with friends and family, you may be wanting to elevate this year’s Easter meal a bit to make it extra special.
Our friend Chef Ken Durbin, owner and founder of The At Home Chef, creates custom in-home dining experiences across the Tri-State from dinner parties to date nights. Voted Best Private Chef in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, The At Home Chef does all of the menu prep, shopping, cooking and even cleaning (click here to see our recent review). We know Durbin loves to use fresh ingredients from local farmers, so we asked him what he’s making for Easter this year.
“Instead of the traditional Easter ham, I’m doing some Easter lamb,” says Durbin. “I recommend going with the double-cut lamb chops because they’re double the thickness and more substantial.”
Durbin says lamb chops can be quite easy to prepare. He says to first try to find locally-sourced whenever possible (click here to see his list of favorite farmers). Next step is a quick sear on the stove top to lock in all the juices and flavors. Then throw it in the oven to bake in the same pan you seared it in. “I like to top with a fresh chimichurri over a bed of locally-sourced green beans and topped with an edible flower,” Durbin adds, “and there you have an easy Springtime celebration meal.”
When you dine with The At Home Chef, they not only do all the menu prep, ingredient sourcing, and cooking, but they also take care of everything else.
“All you have to do is set your table and we’ll do the rest, including expertly cleaning your kitchen when we leave,” says Durbin. “If you use your china, we clean it, polish it, and put it away. We take the garbage out and everything. It’s like we were never there, the only things that remain after your dinner party are the memories made.”
Durbin’s motto – personally and professionally – has always been “Enjoy Life,” and it’s become more important than ever. “Now, after a year of not getting to be around people we care about, I love that my work allows people to get together, celebrate again, enjoy life, just soak it all in even more.”
